Chalmers // Brand identity

At the beginning of 2018, Chalmers Presbyterian Church revived their congregation in Hawthorn East. Previously unbranded, the church engaged me to design and rollout a brand that would match their new vision. 


Because of the 100 year old history of the church, it was important that the brand could translate into both traditional and contemporary contexts, and be flexible enough to complement a variety of events, campaigns and applications.

In order to reach a young audience, significant time and effort was put into creating a distinctive voice for Chalmers across social media platforms. 


The creation of content for social media draws on Chalmers' strong community atmosphere, by getting the church community to create the content: members of the church are encouraged to write out weekly thoughts and bible verses for social media, which helps to give an insight into the diversity of the Chalmers community.


A positive physical presence within the Hawthorn East area was also an important element of marketing the Chalmers brand. This is achieved through engaging modern signage, an interactive visitor’s board and simple branded apparel.
