Fontan Registry

Brand Design

The brief

The Fontan Registry, managed by the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, was created to gather the health information of children and adults who have undergone the Fontan operation - a procedure that allows those with abnormal hearts to better pump blood around the body. Often the patients with this condition are coloquially known to only have “half a heart”.

Having been active for over 10 years, the Fontan registry engaged me in late 2022 to provide a full brand redesign and roll this out across all print and web outputs.

The solution

The final visual brand outcome uses a very simple icon with a powerful meaning. Two chain links connect to form a heart, representing the Registry’s aims to connect information about the Fontan procedure. The two chain links also allude to the two halves of the heart coming together.
